Tile Glazes and Crazing

The unique charm of all handmade ceramic tiles is that they differ slightly in color, shade, shape, and texture with each production lot, as well as from tile to tile. In addition, these beautiful handmade tiles naturally have minor imperfections, some seen as subtle surface cracks in the glaze called Crazing and can present itself before or after installation. Crazing is a natural process and not a structural flaw. Some crazing takes years to develop, and we call this delayed crazing. Demand is high for this crazed look and we have designed a crackle fluid glaze that actually accelerates the crazing. These are special characteristics of all handmade tiles which make the product unique and enhance the beauty.

If the idea of handmade tile excites you, we recommend having a conversation with one of our Design Consultants who can show and explain all the characteristics that go along with handmade ceramic tile.
